In-ground spike blades set in a flush steel frame across a concrete lane
The slope sideExit traffic presses each blade into the frame.
The steep sideWrong-way tires meet sharpened steel.

How it works/ 01

Level with the road. Ruthless in reverse.

Each blade is counterweighted, not spring-loaded. Right-way tires press it down into the frame, and the weight swings it back up the moment they pass. Come in the wrong way and the blade doesn't budge.

  1. 01

    Roll out

Tires press each blade down into the frame. At exit-lane speed, drivers barely feel it.

  2. 02

    Swing back

Counterweights return every blade upright. No springs to wear out.

  3. 03

    Stop cold

Wrong-way tires meet steel that won't fold. Signs on both sides make sure nobody can say they didn't know.

No. The cover plate sits flush with the pavement, so plows and sweepers glide over. Add heat-trace cable where ice is a problem.
