Barrier gate questions, answered

What does my installer need on site?+

Your installer needs a concrete pad per the foundation plan; a 120 V, 15 A circuit in conduit to the pad (Solar Lane uses solar panel + batteries, 24 V DC); two saw-cut vehicle loops (loop wire by installer); a dry-contact open signal from your keypad, reader or pay station; and a separate pedestrian walkway (UL 325).

How much does a barrier gate cost?+

Complete lane systems cost $6,190 to $8,550 + $295 LTL freight per order. Operator-and-arm-only packages start at $4,279. Wide truck lanes cost $17,500. Every complete lane includes the operator, arm, two vehicle loops and photo eye; your installer quotes installation separately.

What does “certified to UL 325” mean?+

TÜV SÜD, a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), certifies the operator to UL 325. Both required entrapment devices — vehicle loops and a photo eye — come with every system.

Which gate do I need?+

Choose Parking Garage Lane for low ceilings, Parking Lot Lane for parking traffic, Community Entrance for HOAs, and Access Control Lane for controlled entrances up to 20 ft. Security Lane adds a skirt; Solar Lane needs no mains power; Wide / Truck Lane covers lanes up to 33 ft. Toll lanes are specified per project.

Will it work with my keypad, card reader or pay station?+

Yes. A dry-contact open signal connects keypads, card readers and pay stations to the gate controller. We confirm the interface for your equipment when specifying the system.

What happens when the power goes out?+

The manual release lets you open the arm during a power outage. Battery backup is available for powered systems, and Solar Lane includes solar power and batteries.

Do you install it?+

Not at this time — we ship the complete system to your site and support your installer with drawings, the install manual and phone support. Many customers use their electrician or fence/gate contractor; ask us if you need a referral.
