How Tire Spikes Protect Residential and Commercial Properties

A real-world demonstration of surface-mounted tire spikes stopping a vehicle at a residential property — and what it means for business security.

Surface-mounted tire spikes were mounted outside of a residential household, and the results speak for themselves: as the vehicle rolled over the device, the tires were punctured, and the spikes were still fully intact.

Consider the security implications. If this car was intending on robbing this house, it would have been very easy for police to catch the thieves once the car's tires had been deflated. A getaway vehicle with deflated tires isn't going anywhere fast.

Based on this same principle, business owners commonly install traffic spikes in parking lots to increase security and deter potential theft targets. The presence of tire spikes transforms a property from an easy target into a hardened one — would-be intruders know that even if they get in, getting out with deflated tires is another matter entirely.
